The aim of the workshop is to learn and understand the principles of website creation by spending a day doing it yourself. The course explores the principles of basic website design as well as practical sessions helping you to put together different elements of your own multi-page website:
• creating text and headings: about your company, products or services which you can keep up to date
• using colours, backgrounds and images
• creating links to other pages and sites
• adding relevant contact information (email, fax, phone)
• how new technology and a simple content manangement system can work for you
• web standards including accessibility
To get the most out of the course, you will need information about your company:
• current brochure or text about your company
• company description on CD/USB stick/email
• company logo on a sample of the product
You will also need to be able to access to an email address that you pick up via a web-browser (Yahoo or similar or webmail from your service provider). You should also have some experience of using a computer keyboard, but there is no software to download and you will be able to access and update your website immediately. The workshops are not intended to turn you into a professional web designer but enable you to create a simple website that you can update. You will be able to apply the principles learned during the day to update and maintain your website or commission a new website for your business. Included is a free 14 day trial of the Experts Online service to help support any questions about your new website.
