Sutton Coldfield - a hotbed of activity for female entrepreneurs!
WBDA and John Willmott School combined to provide budding businesswomen with a “Be Your Own Boss” workshop on the 30th January.
WBDA (the Women’s Business Development Agency) are providing a series of these workshops around the West Midlands. This particular event was brought about by the School’s PTFA (Parents, Teacher and Friends Association) becoming aware of the workshops and inviting WBDA to present to parents and carers. Shelly Feaver, PTFA chair, said,
“When checking out the West Midlands Woman web site, I became aware of the potential benefits to women in the John Willmott School community. Many have interesting and imaginative business ideas, but lack the knowledge and experience that would enable them to turn them into an effective commercial venture.”Michelle Grindley delivered the workshop at the school. Michelle is one of WBDA’s most lively trainers and has considerable experience with helping a wide variety of women take these all-important first steps. Michelle said,
“I never know what to expect when I meet a new group. This particular group were very focused, but prepared to make an enjoyable evening of it as well. Motivation was certainly not in short supply!
“The whole atmosphere of the session was excellent – lively and entertaining. The most satisfying aspect for me is that the delegates have all gone away from the event having dispelled a lot of those initial fears and concerns. And they are now armed with a great deal of information that will help them continue to start and grow their businesses.“One of the most important resources is the West Midlands Woman web site (www.westmidlandswoman.co.uk), which provides a phenomenal amount of training and help all of which is available free of charge. Anyone registering also has access to an online community of women in various stages of business growth via a very lively forum.”The event proved to be so successful that another one is being planned for the near future.
