Brought up in Coventry and commenced a career in the financial industry after leaving school with ‘A’ levels. After 20 years and a period of ill health, I left the finance industry and was really unsure how I would get back into the workplace.

As a treat to myself I had a semi-permanent make-up procedure and offered to model as a client for scar reduction on a skin graft I had as a child. I immediately realised that I had found the career that I would love.

Help is at hand

I went along to the Job Centre Plus and Working Links to see if they could help me somehow and this is when I was recommended to LEGI (Local Enterprise Growth Initiative) and WBDA. I gave WBDA a call and they were able to book me in to see a business advisor.

Michelle, my business advisor, helped me to focus on other areas apart from those I felt comfortable with. She helped me to move out of my comfort zone.

Michelle constantly gave me general encouragement, excellent tips on starting a business, writing a business plan etc to focus me. I went on some great WBDA courses and networking events too.


About Skin Deep Confidence

Thanks to the help that I received from WBDA I now have my own business. Skin Deep Confidence deals with Micro pigmentation – which is semi permanent make up and paramedical tattooing. This is the process of inserting pigment into the skin in a similar way to tattooing.

I wanted to make women’s lives a little easier in the mornings by providing a Semi-Permanent Make-Up procedure so that she would be 'made up when she woke up'.
