I am a single mum of a 3year old daughter. I have a background in Sales and Finance. I trained over the last 5years in Beauty Therapy and Holistic Therapy and most recently Colon Hydrotherapy. I also work for the NHS 2 nights a week.

With all my experience I thought the best way to spend more time with my daughter would be to open my own business.

A helping hand

I saw an advertisement/press release in the local newspaper which was all about the support the Women's Business Development Agency provides to help start up businesses – so I thought they were the best person to get in contact with to see how they can help me start my own business.

I had an original meeting with Michelle Grindley, my business advisor, who offered me a range of information and advice.

I carried on having business advice sessions with Michelle who supported me and helped me make my business idea became more structured and she helped me with some effective marketing activities.

I now became more informed about procedures for setting up my business, potential funding opportunities and legal requirements.

WBDA helped me realise that my plans were sound and viable and gave me the support and confidence I needed to proceed with my business launch.

I feel more capable as a business owner and more confident that the business will be a long term success.
