"WBDA have been wonderful. They were so easy to approach. They were all very supportive and encouraging. Having Carolyn to help and show me what I needed to do have really put my mind at rest and knowing that if I needed her help with anything that I can just give her a call or drop an email."

Anne Staniforth : Anne's Help

Anne’s Help offers to take the worry out of people’s lives by caring, cooking, cleaning etc. Read how Anne Staniforth used her 15 years experience to start a business…

I am a single 57 year old with 15 years experience in local care.

My jobseekers allowance was coming to an end and finances had completely dried up so I decided that I HAD to do something! I went along to Working Links and met a woman called Emma who pointed me in the direction of the Women’s Business Development Agency.

Business start up help

I gave WBDA a call and they booked me in on an Inland Revenue workshop, as well as a Website Planning IT workshop – both of these helped tremendously because they opened my eyes to see what exactly I needed to start my own business. After the workshops I was booked in to see a business advisor called Carolyn Reily.

I completely lacked confidence in myself and thought that I wasn’t clever enough or young enough to start my own business but Carolyn has restored my confidence, giving me so much encouragement – she has just been fantastic!Anne Staniforth - West Midlands Women's Business Centre

About Anne’s Help

I now have my own business called Anne’s Help which is kind of like a modern version of the old home help. I am there to take the worry out of people’s lives by doing things such as caring, cooking, cleaning, shopping, gardening, days out, hospital appointments etc.

I now also have a website, some business cards and have even put my logo and web address on the side of my car!
