We are best friends who met at college. We are both animals lovers and wanted to work with them. After completing the two year course we were on, we both graduated with a national diploma in animal management at distinction level, but after graduating both of us couldn’t find a job anywhere.

So we decided to go on another course which involved dog grooming and we thought that starting our own business was the best option. So when we passed and got all of our certificates we started the ball rolling.

Help from the Women’s Business Development Agency

Our main problem we encountered was the financial issues as we had no money to back us up to start the business and to get a loan from the bank we needed a completed business plan!

So we got in touch with WBDA because we knew Carole who worked there we thought they could help us out as we needed a business plan and we didn’t know where to begin, because without one we couldn’t get the bank loan in which we needed to start the business.

We received guidance and support for our business plan from WBDA and Carole. We also got answers to the questions and queries we had at the time. We went to a couple of free workshops provided by the Women’s Business Development Agency to learn more about the business and how it works and also to help build our confidence.

Now we have our own business called Best Friend Dog Groomers! We provide Dog grooming services, which includes bathing, clipping, styling, drying etc.

We feel that both of us have gained a lot more confidence and the business looks hopeful for the future.
