I have been working with serious games for over 8 years. I studied a Masters in International Marketing at Abertay University in Dundee which is where I got into serious games then I moved south.
Business start up help
I wanted to know what support there was for women in the region going into business and I 
came across a programme called LEGI (Local Enterprising Growth Initiative which is now known as Enterprising Coventry) and they referred me to the Women’s Business Development Agency.
WBDA gave me a call and I was booked in to have a one-to-one business advice session with a mentor, Michelle Grindley.
Michelle helped me access the LEGI grant of £500 as I needed a laptop to develop the site. She also offered sound advice on all aspects of starting a business as well as general support.
About Buy Serious Games
Buyseriousgames.com is a website that provides a showcase and shopping facility for serious games products and utilities.
The facility allows developers to join as a member and supplier, upload products to the site and showcase special offers and featured products.
Buyers are required to also register in order to be able to track products and be kept up to date with industry news and updates (if requested). Registering also makes the buying process much simpler and quicker, cutting out the task of entering details multiple times.
Buyseriousgames.com will sell the products as a reseller and money paid for products will be deposited into the Buy Serious Games account and sent out to developers at the end of each month, respectively.
Thanks to the help from the Women’s Business Development Agency I am now more aware of where I can get specific advice on specific issues.
I have also learnt to set goals and think more about what I need to do to achieve those goals.
