Amanda Turner: Turner Photo Art

Amanda Turner: Turner Photo Art

I am a 36 year old mother of four. I compete in obedience with my dogs and train with Coventry Dog Training Club as a trainer on a voluntary basis. As well as my passion for animals, I have always been passionate about photography!

I was bought my first camera when I was 13 years old and then went on holiday to Australia and took loads of photos and have been hooked since! There is nothing better than looking at an image and feeling the emotions felt on the day, freezing time, just for that moment.

Amanda Turner from Turner Photo ArtAnd as my children have grown this has allowed my knowledge to grow too through training. I have photographed several charity events now, which has been a great platform for me to spur me on into starting up my own business.

Support from the Women’s Business Development Agency

I have trained, trained and trained some more as far as the photographic side of the business is concerned and always will, but with the business side of things, I just didn’t have a clue where to even begin!

I met a woman who had previous set up her own business and she recommended getting in touch with the Women’s Business Development Agency to get support and advice on how to set up my own business. I got in touch with WBDA and got booked in to have a free face-to-face business advice session with a business advisor called Sheridan Culverwell.

Sheridan provided me with fabulous business advice, she showed me how to plan for the future of my business and that my ideas didn’t have to remain dreams. She shared relevant advice regarding my business and how I can move forward. I was also able to go on WBDA’s free business workshops, where I met great like-minded business women who were in the same boat as me!

The Women’s Business Development Agency has been priceless! I honestly don’t know what I would have done. All the things I had talked about for the 6 months and more, prior to seeing the WBDA, came into fruition through guidance and advice much needed. I have confidence in the direction my business is heading and it’s definitely the way I want to go!
